what can I do to prevent the point of my dutsun 1200 from getting burnt most of the time?

Replace the condenser, or fit electronic distributor. .
check yout leads and plugs too.

Points run on 7.5 volts.A white block should be next to or on the coil mount,that has resistance wire in it.

The white block next to your coil is called the Ballest resistor this diplaces the heat from your points (well so the RACQ guy said)
I would drop in a new set of points,condensor and resistor.

WHY DO YOU THINK THAY CALL A TOW TRUCK. I know many tow operaters and some fieldmen good blokes and mates around the BBQ.WETEN each others boots.Thay call me to do deep recovery of stolen or dumped cars.Good money on the side.Towie gets his cut to.

OH NO we are of the subject of points.Thay burn because of to much power/volts.yYou only need to start on 12volts.

How to solve it?

If you don't have the ballast resistor connected, put back on.

Replace the condensor.
