ok, well got my datto 120Y on tuesday and when i pull up to lights or stop, my poor datto really struggles to stay on in a way. but when i take my foot of the brake and onto the accelerator she dies most of the time.. if i have one foot on the brake and start accelerating with the other one before i take my foot off its fine....????

would this be my idle or what???

P.S. it is a A12 stock with auto

Hi Drew, you set the idle speed with the engine running car not moving. For the automatic, it should be 650 rpm in Drive. Be sure to block the wheels and use the handbrake so the car doesn't take off by itself ...

You also need to set the idle mixture on the carb. This goes hand-in-hand with the idle speed adjustment.

The problem of it dying when coming to a stop is usually a vacuum leak, which can be tricky to find. First examine all the vacuum hose ends, and cut off any ends that are cracked and put the hose back on. If you don't spot a problem there, see the carb troubleshooting article.

There should be two screws on the carburettor, you might need to take the air cleaner off to see them properly, but you should be able to turn them with the air cleaner still in place. Both screws should have a spring holding them in place.

One of the screws is the idle speed, it should be near where the thottle cable connects to the carb. As you turn this screw in the idle speed will rise.

As ddgonzal said, the other screw adjusts the air/fuel mix at idle. When you turn this screw it may also affect the idle speed.

There are pictures and diagrams in the carb troubleshooting & adjustment article mentioned earlier.
