Hi guys! I have a little problem.... I have a A14 racecamshaft without any specs and now I am going to manufacture a 4-1 race header for my race engine. I have all the formulas (Four stroke performance tuning, Graham Bell) but the spec of the cam is still missing! I have measured it but I am having problem to know which numbers to use!? I have measured it straight of the cam and the cam timing from 0mm lift should be IN 80/115 EX 115/80, measured from 1,27mm lift (0,050") the cam timing should be IN 15/50 EX 50/15, max lift measured of the camshaft is 8,15mm (0,320")! Which camtimes shall I use when I calculate what length the pipes should be..... I have also measured the cam from the valves, with the cylinderhead and rockerarms installed, IN 25/55 EX 55/25 (measured at 1,27mm valvelift) maxlift 12,25mm (0,480")!! Can anyone give me a clue??

From the specs you have given the cam will have a nominal timing around 50:80 inlet and 80:50 exhaust at 0 lift.

Its hard to measure cam timing exactly with out a cam doctor but that would be close.

For your exhaust calc you would use 80 degrees before Bottom Dead Centre (BDC) for the calc on page 115.

Thats a big cam for a turbo engine
Planning something special are we?????

I knew that Feral would come to the rescue.... THANX!! I understand what you mean with the numbers but what is a "camdoctor", is it a person or some tool??
I can send you the exact spec in a excel workbook to you if it would be of any help!? My turbo engine is complete so now I need a new challenge.... I am helping my brother to build a high comp race A14 engine! This cam is not suited for citydriving or cruising but I must admit that it would be nice to make a real killer turbo engine with this cam and a huge turbo that would start to make boost after 5000rpm....
