I know its not datsun related but I came across this article. The photos of the engine on the dyno at full song are pretty impressive.

looks hot!! I can easily respect any engine that can put out that sort of horsepower - and be reliable. I wouldn't have thought it possible from a 4.0L 6 cyl...
can some one who has access to that article post a few more details???

Yep its one thing to make 1000 HP but another getting it to the ground and getting it to go around a corner. The BA Falcon turbo has drivetrain issues now with the stock turbo engine yet alone with 1000hp.

I have riden in a car with over 850hp on the street. It had a blown 426 Dodge hemi & was a joke as far as driveability was concerned. These figures are really serious numbers & suggesting that an engine with stock internals can be successfully boosted to 1000 genuine horsepower gives me real reason to be suspect.

Automakers run a business, & building in enough reserve strength to handle this sort of power output in not economicly wise for a mass produced engine. Maybee the claims are true, but i have my doubts.

At that kind of output, my 17cc chainsaw would develop more power than my ride-on mower, a 160cc Victa lawnmower would produce about 80hp & your 1000cc motorcycle would be good for about 500hp

I haven't read the full article but I suspect the rods won't be standard other than that the Ford 6 is proving it self extremely strong. Though I agree the transmissions are the weak link. And I think the factory diff would be blown to bits in short order...The numbers aren't all that surprising considering the HP Japanese tuners have been extracting from smaller capacity 6 cylinders.
