lighting problems

when i put parking lights on, first position on light switch headlights come on it should only be the parkers . if i flick the dipper switch to high beam it just leaves the parkers on. this is on a1200 coupe. has any body had this problem or know how to solve it, wiring conections are all correct according to wiring diagram in gregoreys workshop manual. i have also tried other light switches and dipper switches problem still persits. HELP ME PLEASE.

Thats how they are. You have to change the wires on the top of the switch itself if you want it to work like all other cars.

Believe it or not, there is nothing wrong with your light switch. This is how the factory made it. If you were able to get an owners manual, it would confirm this. 120Y's were the same too, but i don't know about the later Sunny models.

Yes. i know it seems a bit bizzarre, but try not to wory too much, & simply get accustomed to it like everyone else, & your night time motoring will be happy motoring.

By the way, 1200s in north america work in the normal fashion: pull light switch out one click, parking lights are on. regardless of dimmer switch position. Which matches the JDM wiring diagram too. I wonder why the australian 1200s were rewired?
