Got in my mums Datto yesterday for a driving lesson and went to adjust the seat only to find that it wouldn't move.
After investigating and twisting my neck something chronic looking under the seat I discovered that the tab on the seat adjusting lever had snapped off and gotten lodged up in the rail.
You can still move the seat but it takes alot of effort and I need it adjusted to be able to drive it.
I was thinking that all I'd need to do is unbolt the seat and attempt to remove the lodged piece of metal. But the problem I see with that is that I'm not sure that if I remove the piece of metal that the seat will not have enough of the tab left and it will slide freely...caused the car to become unroadworthy....which is something I don't want.
Does anyone have any idea what I could do to fix this?

many things can be done but the easiest would be get a replacement from the wreckers or get the tab welded back into place.

Yes, I think you are right. You can't easily get the rail apart, and replacing the whole thing is easy.
