Does anyone know what is the correct fuel/air mix for the ca18? I have a standard computer and i was also interested if it had an economy mode and how it works.

Straight from japan my engine was running lean according to the first time on the dyno, but ever since then it has used a lot of fuel (12 litres/100km highway). nothing is wrong with the oxygen sensor either!
thanks, justin

14.1 Is (i think) perfect stiochometric rating. Basically in teh middle of being too rich or too lean. 2 Things affect your mixture and that is the Air flow meter and the O2 sensor. But because you've hooked up your computer without all the sensors hooked up like it has on a silvia. The computer goes into "Limp Home Mode" which retards your timing and really richens up your fuel maps, which is why you get such poor milage.

Cheers

....which is good at idle, but preferably around 12:1 under full load and wide open throttle (WOT).

well I guess that might be possible, if so, how do i get around the 'limp home mode' and have a reasonably fuel efficient car?

It will run lean mainly because of 2 things. Dirty 02 sensor, and dirty AFM.

Clean/replace both, and get back to us.

It should do 7L->9L/100kms

To get out of limp home mode, remove power to the ECU, or remove ECU from loom for more than 5 minutes.

Please download and read the troubleshooting guides in the S13 PDF.

You will need to become accustomed to the LED error codes on the ECU. Especially due to your remote location.

Turning things around,
what is the cause of a CA motor running rich under load? AFM?

thanks guys, I have checked the trouble codes on the ecu, and the result was code 55 or no fault. I guess the computer may not pick up a dirty AFM or Oxygen sensor as a fault so i will try cleaning or replacing with secondhand items. hey chris, is your rebuild complete yet? justin
