If you dont no much about cam shafts its very easy to work out what you want by reading the application book. Some cam shaft books will tell you the working rev ranges & what idle quality is like. What i think would be good cam for a daily driver is a cam that will give good bottom end & mid range power. Dont make the mistake of putting a big cam into a stock engine.
What ever you decide to do put a good set of extactors on it & good carb or carbs.
Also recurv an electronic distributor to suit the cam have seen that mistake made to many times & you wont bet the most out of it. Good Luck

An engine should be built around the cam. It controls what happens at what time. Personally I believe that if your life revolves around Saturday night you will be able to put up with a bit of roughness for the sake of a few extra horses.

An engine idling at 500rpm vs 1500rpm is not a really big issue is it? IF it is a bit doughy down low, then snick it back cog or two.

I've never had a problem with big cams on the street, then again I am happy to pour a bucket of hot water on the inlet manifold in the colder months due to a lack of chokes as well.

That said, I have sold stock cams to guys who couldn't handle their re-grinds.

Talk to and if possible drive the cars of different people with different cams.

Kelford make a nice bumpstick for the A-series. . .

Sticks
Is this a two drive gear cam, or a single drive gear one?

The new grind is single gear, but I also have a dual gear cam with same grind, unfortunately it has a scuff mark on one lobe.If interested I could inquire as to cost having it reclaimed by Tighe Cams and work out a price for cam.

The single gear cam will service only the A10 & the 1200 engine, while the two gear cam was intended for the Later A12 & larger engines. I believe that you can also use it in the A10 & 1200 engine if you cover the fuel pump hole in these earlier engines & run an electric pump.

I may well be interested in the single gear cam if uterous can't use it. I will contact you by e-mail.
