ello ello again, now im sort of a bit of a puzzle, ive just got my a14 together(rebuilt bar bearings and rings) and in the car and running. its got a new water pump, new thermostat and thermostat housing new standard 120y radiator, and all water galleries were cleaned before reasemble. When my engine goes above 3500 rpm and under load the temp gauge just plumets...under this and no load ie traffic lights it sit at operating temp quite nicely. Why is this??? also its got a fix fan with the bigger pulley like an a12. Presumeing its not the thermo stat(as its new)im not really sure, any ideas??My only guess is cause my engine is running rich( i think) its got twin 40mm webers. Could this be the cause???Ive got some new jets coming on wensday.PLease any help cheers

Put a voltmeter across the battery terminals. I suspect your regulator has blown.

This is the only thing that would trick a simple gauge into showing the wrong reading. Unless the accelerator mechanism is pulling on the loom..?

Arrr intresting, ever since i bought the car the charge light goes on and off as it pleases. Sometimes i drive it no light and sometimes the light is always on other times it flashes on and off. i did a few battery and charging checks and came up ok i just concluded that the light wiring is faulty somehow. ALso when i say plumet i dont mean plumet like the gauge just got switched off it slowly drops and hovers on cold mark.
