Hi all

I have been reading up the tech section of the site for some time, and am currently looking at beginning my 1200 project sometime in the new year. I have a 1973 1200 coupe with a late a12, extractors & 2 inch exhaust, late 120y PBR brakes with stanza booster and master cylinder and interior redone with early 90's mazda astina seats (they bolt up to 1200 rails!), sports steering wheel, and new carpet.

Anyways... I am particularly interested in a CGA3DE conversion as I am going to use the car as my daily driver, and I would like a little more performance than the a12, but good ecconomy, and I like the idea of not adding extra weight to the front end. On the micra board, they point out that apparently the SR16 gearboxes bolt up to the CG13 engines... would this mean that a RWD SR20 gearbox would work? Does the RWD SR gearbox bolt up to the front wheel drive SR engine (I know the blocks are different, so maybe not?)

I have read the other posts on this, so am trying to solve the mystery of sorting the gearbox for RWD :)

Other than the CG I will probably go injected a15 (much simpler but less interesting!)

Cheers
Luke

SR16 cant bolt on SR20 rwd gearbox.

A15 EFI isnt that simple i think, may be very challenging

cool... the plot thickens- I will do some further research!

On the A15 EFI front... yeah- I realise the EFI part won't be particularly straight forward, but I have played with old BMWs pretty extensively before (I also own a 323i) and have converted that to EFI from mechanical injection, so I have some experience in wiring stuff up and making it work! :)

Probably use the old N13 Pulsar system as a starting point with a fabbed up manifold.

A15 EFI is very simple. The key is to get the factory A15E manifold. Then just bolt on the other parts from an S110. Read about it here: club wiki.

cool... yup I can certainly hold out if you are going ahead with your swap! I would really appreciate info. How much are sss asking for the CGA3DE (if you don't mind me asking!?)

I think it could be a great swap for a daily driver!

I'm in Adelaide, so I'll probably just hit up Adelaide Jap in Holden Hill.

quick thought the a15 efi manifold is too ugly in my opinion metter option of quad throttle bodys on a sidedraught maniffold simpler and sexier

I have wanted to find a cg13de and try this swap but limited buy cash flow it hasnt happened

my thought had been to make a adaptor plate up to take a datsun gear box probably a stanza sss box

I currently run a toyota dellow engineering conversion and part of this conversion was to have a sinted bronze bush pressed into the flywheel and it works quite well.

I was going to use the same principle when doing the adaptor plate to allow extra room for the conversion

Hi Big V

just been checking out your coupe- looks great! I have been thinking what colour to paint mine- I do like your yellow. Mine's yellow on the rego papers, but is the really pale datsun yellow that looks basically off white. I have to replace my sills, front guards and bonnet, so I think a full respray will certainly be in order.

If you did happen to make an adaptor plate for the CG, I'd certainly be up for buying one!

Cheers
Luke
