a series 5 speed questions

hey people , i am currenty trying to strip my 5 speed gear box for my ute, i am having trouble removing the rear casing where the gear selector goes on, that covers 5 th and reverse gear, how do i pull this rear section off?
can anyone help me ?

The selector has to be in a certain position.

You really should have a manual before you go doing that.

Is it a 60A 5 speed? Theres a rebuild manual on my site (see sig)

yes its a 60 a , i have pulled it appart, i bought it of this fella who said that 5th gear was broken, as i am pulling it appart syncro on fith gear has only one place to go foward ,into reverse,, it leaves me wondering if it even is a five speed gear box? there are three gears in the back
does anyone no how many gears there should be on a five speed at the very rear syncor

There are two different 60 series 5 speeds. The earlier one has a dogleg shift pattern [first is to the left & back, reverse is left & forward] & from memory, both reverse & first gear are in the extention housing, while the later one is a 'conventional shift' & both reverse & 5th [overdrive] are in the extention housing
