Taking off the auto thing on a CA18

Now that I have the Ca18 I have it sitting in a tyre on the ground. To get it up on the stand I have to remove the big auto thing? I will be making it manual so new flywheel, clutch and pressure plate etc.

Question is - how do you remove the bloddy auto thing I can't see exactly how, it just looks like a big round thing that needs a special tool to get it off?

Any advice?

there are 3 bolts going through the flex plate that hold it on, need to undo them from the engine side of the flexplate

once that and the flex plate are gone dont forget to pull off the extra peice of crap thats sorta pressed into the back of the crank, its the bit that stick out from where the flywheel will bolt onto. if you dont remove it you wont be able to get the spiggot bearing into the crank

yeah pigdog is spot on. you will have to spin the torque converter around until you can see the bolts going through the ring gear into the front of torque converter. just watch your feet when your taking the last bolt out, they are pretty heavy and usually full of dirty auto fluid.. good luck
