Both worth checking out before you take it somewhere. But you will need to take the door card off on the inside of the door. Remove handle, window winder, lock pin etc.

The 1/4 windows have a spring and nut on the bottom of the shaft that it pivots on. This is on the inside of the door. Try winding some more tension on the spring by tightening the nut a little. It may even be damaged or missing.

The lock will mallfunction if the mechanism is stiff or out of adjustment. This mechanism is easily seen inside the door. So try operating it with the door card off so you can see whats happening.

Look the door from inside. Then exit via the other door and lock it with the key.

To fix it right, you need to replace the part that broke off!

Here are more ideas:

* Take the door panel off an pull/push on the lock linkage until it locks. Then only use the other door.

* Replace the whole door with another one

* Take it to a mechanic for repair

* Get a Datsun1200 club member in your are to come over for a six-pack after they fix it for you
