As far as I know, having seatbelts at all was a delux option, and they were lap sash type, manual adjusting, and only for the front seats. The back seat didnt get seatbelts in any body type or luxury level.

I am also under the impression that this was a dealer fitted option, so the types of belts were region dependant.

In the Standard verison of the 1k, belts were not a fitted option, neither were floor mats, a heater, or 2 speed window wipers. Im not sure if the standard version was actually available in Australia, as I have only ever seen Delux versions of the body types.

So the sort answer, No 1k didnt recieve retractable belts.

I am planning on making some belts from a skyline fit. Ill post up some pics when I get to that stage...

in 1969 cars had to be fitted with front seat belts and a year or so later the law was changed to be all seats had to have a seat belt . i think you'll find retractable belts were in cars around the mid to late 70's

there not that hard to fit

The big thing is they would need to be engineered (technically) its a safety mod.

not really engineered because the 1000 has factory mounting points, so if they are ADR approved belts, bobs your Auntie,

some time in 69 the front belts became compulsory,
but I've never seen a 1000 without belts,

All cars have mounting points but 1000's never came out with retractable's so therefore it has to be approved i had to get retractable's ticked off in a 1200.

Well its not for having retractble's its for not having them ticked off approved the retractor mounts slightly different than just a lap sash or over the shoulder number. Sure put them in while the car is regoed but it aint legal Yes we would assume there safer but This is where assumptions are dangerous.
