It is a matched set:
* plate
* transmission type
* flywheel
* throwout bearing sleeve

If these all came from the donor car you will be alright.

If you mix-n-match, it becomes a problem. For example, all the above from an A14-powered B210 but using an A12 flywheel. In that case better leave off the plate.

I have a A12 with a auto trans , I got a donor car A12 with a 4 speed wich didn't have the plate , but I got a 60 series trans from another member , so I wanto install the 60 series into the A12 do I need that plate ? For clutch and flywheel is going to be for A12 engine

Which clutch is used doesn't matter on the A-series.

* plate
* transmission type
* flywheel
* throwout bearing sleeve

I would use the 1200 4-speed as it is faster/lighter. And you know its a matched set with the other parts. But if it is worn out or something the 60 is good. Just needs an adapter bracket to bolt in and figure out what to do about the reverse light switch.

A12 flywheel and 60 transmission is a short combo.
* if you have the long 34 mm Release Sleeve, use the engine plate
* if you have the short 29.5mm Release Sleeve, leave the plate off

Wish I readread this before...
I found a horrible combo...
A15 swapping auto to manual 60 series smooth case 4 spd
No engine plate plus what I assume is a van flywheel that had been lightened, its thicker behind the ring gear than an a12 flywheel.

The car wouldnt turn over. After investigation the flywheel is actually jammed almost solidly into the bellhousing

Haven't pulled the box back out yet, still crying, but I will be checking the throwout carrier size etc when I do

If anyone has an engine plate I would be keen to buy it!

Hmmm, haven't heard of that problem before, even though A14/A15 flywheels are thicker than A12 flywheels. By any chance is the automatic crank spacer still attached?

i just had a look at a pic of the spacer, i must have removed it because i changed the rear main seal, it looks as though you could not change the seal without removing the spacer
