hi Folks

Who has modified a sump for an A15 for extra capacity?
Did you go for the single wing or double wing?
Did you extend the depth of the sump and if so, what did you do to extend the oil pickup?
I was just thinking of cutting off the bottom of a steel sump and extending to down and left/right, but then what do i do so the pickup?

Will make some slosh gates as well, based on the designs i've seen here and on the interwebs to keep it close to the pickup.

I have had a read of a few old threads on sump baffles, but haven't found much on making the sump bigger as such outside of a Nismo part, of which, like everything nismo / datsport cost more than i have appendages to give. But if anyone has a fancy one laying about that they no longer need, I could be convinced.

maybe speedway guys could help there Reubs I think some are still using or stop using the A15 vs the now formidable 4age 20v.

The other option is to get an A14 FWD sump from an early pulsar
they have a deep long front hump design that would fit a 1000.
These sumps come in steel and alloy overseas but in Oz Ive only
seen the steel sumps and are thicker steel which lends itself
better for making it into a winged high capacity setup.

copy that D on the A14 powered Pulsars.
I'm about to collect my second one next weekend for the delco stuff
and now a third one for a sump.

Unless anyone has a extra deep a14 sump laying about they can post....

Be careful -- an A14 sump doesn't work quite right on an A15

Yes, late A14 block is same as A15. However the oil sump differs. Some say you can beat out the sides of the pan to clear the larger crank throws, or maybe with an alloy pan grind out some clearance

I have 2 or 3 speed way sumps for sale
But
The option I have have chosen to increase
the engine sump capacity requires no sump
removal and fabrication .
I have remote mounted a twin filter housing
which I fitted two Ford V8 filters to,hense I have
gained extra capacity, counting the oil lines
equates to approximately 2.5 litres extra,so all up
approximately 5.7 litres,which is fantastic.
I mounted it to the left hand side of the radiator
away from the washer bag,it fits very well and the hoses
carefully follow the front sway bar to the adaptator
fitting on the oil pump.It worth noting that the oil lines
need a protective sheath around them and well secured
to prevent fretting, and use quality hose clamps.
The filters basically are a reseviour and the filtering of
the oil twice is a bonus.

Thanks for that info Datmondo.

My motor project means space in the engine bag will be at a premium.

I will probably run a small oil cooler in front of the radiator, so i could put a small resivour there i spose.

I know that I should have space available where the sump sits, hence why i was going to deepen and widen the sump a little to gain another 2-3 litres.

Its not critical to be honest, but more oil can only be a good thing.
I'm not sure about petrols, but I know that diesels appreciate more oil as it plays an important role in engine cooling overall.
Im thinking that the dat could do with a bit more oil, for cooling plus as some extra insurance, plus its some extra wank factor and coolness.

do you have pics of your speedway sumps that you can share?

do any of them have slosh gates fitted?

Not sure what you are looking to do with the motor. I have been running the 1300ccmotor since 2010 x 8 race meetings a year with a stock sump Hivolume oil pump and oil cooler with no problems 20w50 oil and filter every meeting(just for peace of mind )
I did copy the alloy winged sump back in the 70s out of steel with hinged flaps.Greg.
