Hey guys, it's great to be back on this forum after almost 4 years.
Recently purchased a PB310 with A15 engine and 4 speed tranny. The car is still in a pretty rough shape but it's a work in progress.
This is a long term build for me and my brother and we are slowly building it to our specs.
The interior was in a really bad shape when we got it. The entire dash was held up by steel wire, cable ties and spray paint. Since we saw someone install a Starlet dash in a 1200, we gave it a go in our 310.
We acquired a dash off a EP80 Starlet and got down to it. Unlike the dash which went into the 1200,we didn't have to chop the sides but rather had to slice the front part (windscreen vent area). We chopped up around 4-5 inches off the dash, we used the existing Datsun dash support and made brackets to attach the Starlet dash to the Datsun dash apron I would say. The dash is not completely solid yet as we both get very limited time everyday to work on the Datsun.

Still heaps of stuff needed for a strong and steady dash. We initially thought of going with the Toyota Glanza cluster but having second thoughts about it now. Might just cut to fit the existing B310 cluster!

nice to see a modern dash for the B310

How will you extend the sides of the dash? is that a cardboard pattern in the photo? another day in paradise

Hello, I guess we will fiberglass the sides. Yup, it's cardboard, would be used as a template..

Next major issue would be reinstalling the air ducts. Car has a working blower system, plenty A/C components are missing so no use trying to fix that..

A little update on the A15. We managed to find 2 stock A15 intake manifolds and cut off the #1&2 ports and blocked it with AbroSteel. The car itself came with a A12 carb so we bought another A12 carb and serviced both of them..

Since we are on a very tight budget, we made new fuel lines and also a speed rod in our garage (first timers but I guess it went well).

Attached are pictures of the manifold and the stock A12 carbs. Will post pictures of the fuel line and speed rod later..

using two downdraft carbs like this have been factory options from Mazda, Subaru and Toyota. Looks good!

Here in USA, some guys like the A12 carb over the A15 carb because A15 carb is jetted leaner for 1980s emission control. On the other hand, A15 carburetor flows more than A12 carb (it has larger venturis). So later when you find two A15 carbies, you can upgrade. Sometimes fitting the A12 jets will richen them up. Especially if you have the 6000rpm A15 instead of the 5600rpm A15 (most A15 after 1982 has the samller camshaft)

Very clever guys! I thought these things only happened in Cuba and Puerto Rico but it seems possible from most tropical islands where peeps think outside the box.

I wish I thought of this myself as it would have made a screw type supercharger install easier

Little update since my last post. The carbs ran pretty well for a few days but then started flooding. We adjusted the float levels and it sorted the flooding issue. Since that, we have serviced the carb twice since we don't have a air filter on em yet..
Any ideas for air filters guys ?

The Starlet dash on the other hand is coming together piece by piece, the wiring part is very difficult for us since we both are dummies when it comes to electrical stuff.. The car itself had lots of electrical issues. Ignition lights, turn signals, park lights. Lol.. Any simple diagram would be a great help ;)
