Just wondering who here has done this conversion, and how involved it was? I have done a few engine conversions before, and I have an extend port 13b ready to drop in. Is there anything I need to know? Andrew tells me that the hydraulic clutch is a bit of a pain, and also that depending on transmission choice, the trans tunnel may need some gentle beating! I will eventually use a 13b turbo, but wiring is time consuming and costly! Also, what is the best gearbox choice here for normal street driving?

Thanks for your help.

Leigh

From memory its an easy fit bu its a bugger to keep cool. Though this is a 1000 which doesn't have strut towers

Company that owns it is

Cool, I might give them a yell. I'm also wondering if the position of the engine in the engine bay will have much difference in the way it handles/drives. I gather it will be a matter of putting the gearstick through the hole in the floor, and making up some custom engine mounts to connect to the engine where it sits. Hmmm, maybe I should just wack it in, and see what happens. I will be doing a writeup on this for anyone that is interested in doing the same thing.

the bottom is mine....if you look closely at the bottom of the picture you will see that the engine mount is very easy to do...steel bar with 4 bolts that connects to the front of the engine. Same as the tranny...will get more pictures and post it soon.

Thanks,
Cel

Cel,

What kind of gearbox did you use, and did you use a hydraulic clutch? I have a few questions to ask you if you don't mind. You can respond here, via pm, or e-mail wattage@hotkey.net.au

Your time is appreciated!

Thanks,

Leigh

im currently in the prosses my self with the 13b, im chosing to stick with the rx4/5 13b engine which is carbi ( heaps cheaper ) and less worry about tuning as you guys will find out that when your taking your rotars to workshops expect to $$$$$$$ and lots of it, no one in australia really knows much about them as there not in every single car. and the police will be come your worst enemy if it to loud too. you can potetialy get way more power from any rotor and the mods are cheaper and more power, and you must upgrage your brakes big time i converted everything on mine.

comordore diff 4:1:1
comodore hopperstoper brake callipers 300mm rotar vented
stranza struts on king springs
sway bars front and rear
5 stud conversion wheels
60 litre fuel tank

and im looking at around the 120kw with the stock engine, so if you add up im still gonna put on efi injected setup eventuallyand a turbo and exhaust??? nand i still have to port the engine
