For the Japan market 1972, Nissan changed to a fancy dash. Here are some photos

* all 1200 cars -- even STD-- got this dash
* wood-grain standard
* all 1200s -- including PB110 (1400) -- got this dash

The design is deceptive in photos. Sometimes it looks "hooded" (top of pod extend further out than bottom of pod), sometimes it looks simply podded like in the Datsun diagram. I believe this is due to the curve of the facia -- it curves towards the driver at the bottom




* gauges have extended mounting tabs
* gauge glass is replaced with anti-glare plastic cone
* gauge font is updated

today I learned that 1200s buzzed when exceed the speed limit. All 1972 facelift 1200s had this feature as did all Japan market cars 1974-1985

Near the end of 1972 they added another box to the Buzzer, the speed switch amplifier -- a sort of relay for the buzzer. It is bolted to the Speedometer


If this looks familiar it's because the amp was used in late AUS utes and in 1973 USA 1200 to signal the Throttle Opener
