I was thinking you could adapt a Subaru 5-speed Automatic to the A-series. Use a spool to make it RWD only like they do for the WRX. Then control it with CompuShift Pro. It supports Nissan RE5R05A 5-speed automatic, which is a JATCO 5R05, a variation of Subaru 5EAT

Faster than a manual gearbox, better fuel economy

I got to say the 4 speed Nissan unit is
way too large for a lightweight datto but
I heard the Toyota not familiar with the
Subey 5 speed they use however here they
have 2wd Subaru with 1.5L and 5 speed autos.

They should be all Aisin units on Jp cars until
recently 10 speed units from Europe.

I wouldn't run an ecu just manual shifted
for that clutchless manual fun and there are
also very nice kei car 4 speed autos that have
separate bellhousings for easy to adapt swaps

Here a Mitsubishi one with starter on the
correct location etc. they use these behind
turbo 5valve 660cc engines and 1.1L 4 valve units.

The Nissan 4-speed JATCO is smaller than the 3-speed unit for the A15

Both are 71-series gearboxes, but the Sunny 3-speed auto uses a long tail housing
