I have tuned quite alot of webers over the years. Tuning is quite straight forward if you understand the theory behind how they work. DCOEs are very versatile carbs and can be tuned to suit many applications.
Try this web page as it explains the operation of the carbs (in particular the 40 DCOE 2 typo ).

http://www.teglerizer.com/dcoe/rasorcom.htm

In order to choose the jets you need, it helps if you know the specs of you engine, ie engine CC, intended operating RPM and tuned for power/economy etc etc.

The best thing you could do straight off the bat is have the single pull type linkages (alfa type) and remove the dual linkage rod type (quite common linkage setup). single pull type is far more superior ( i reckon ) for bal;acing the twin weber setup.

If you let me know the engine specs and i can recomend some starting point jets / venturis etc etc. as well as letting me know what jets / venturis you are using currently. From this starting point you can refine jet choice as all engines behave differently.

Cheers

Benny
