Im looking at locking the diff in my sedan and just wondered exactly where I weld. I assume Ill have to to do a little bit at a time to avoid overheating etc I know lockers are dodgy but Ive got a ute diff waiting to go in once it dies. Cheers

if you drive it on the road, don't do it. you'll get heaps of understeer, the steering will be heavy, it will embarrass you (or worse) in the wet, the rear end will chatter around when you turn, tyres will squeal in carparks and servo's, parking is a pain in the butt, etc etc.

Bottom line is it will be a pig to drive, not to mention illegal and dangeous - spinning on public roads is not something you will get away with too often.

TYAFRYA, look throught the classifieds here -- there are LSD diffs offered for sale.

The "ute diff" is the same as the Datsun 1200 car diff, except for newer utes.

Also see What diff and LSD?
