i gotta change the head gasket on the a12tt

im thinking of getting something a little thicker in copper, if available and not too expensive

so whats the story?
where do i get em? how big? and how much?

only want a small diffrence, still want drivable off boost

prepared to spend say upto $100 if i have to, dont wanna get too excited on a-12

Get a copper from ridgecrest engineering in Seaford? Work out the thickness you need to give the CR you want and then ask what thicknesses he can do. They wil cost about $200 I think?

if i spend more on this one it just means the a15ett is further away, so yeah im guessing thats understandable

Wouldn't there be a galvanic reaction [electrolosis] problem using a 100% copper head gasket? I know that the use of the correct coolant will reduce the problem, & in race engines, the teardown rate allows frequent monotoring, but in a street engine, i would wory that the head would become the sacrificial anode in short order.

I remember that we had problems with our flathead Fords & copper asbestos gaskets under factory alloy heads with pure water as coolant many years ago.
In fact Ford supplied a special gasket for the alloy head models.

hey R C why not put in two head gaskets? I was allways going to try it,but never got round to it.

Hey 1200rc, I got a head gasket from ridgecrest. They are down in Rosebud, it cost around $80 and I also purchased the spacial heat gasket glue for around $20-25 but it has lasted me three years and I use the glue on all the exhausts as well. I just went with the standard thickness , but my chambers have been machined out to decompress a little

What makes you think it has a blown gasket??
You mentioned a water leak it had, did it get hot? where was the water leaking from?

What has been the most boost you have been runnung?

Has it been detonating?

I blew 1 head gasket in it at 15 psi but replaced it, that was the old one I showed you when you came and picked the motor up, since then it was run on 10.

Head gaskets are 19 dollars from repco and If you are carefull you wont need any other gaskets, but even a VRS set would not be very expencive.
