remove the heavy 1k heater to save weight

Todays newer design alternators have higher amperage for less resistance,

This heater from the uk is only 2.4lbs

Is the weight of the heater enough to make a measurable diference to performance?
Is this a streeter, or a racer?

If a racer, then....
It matters not, how much of an improvement the new, high output altenators are, 300 watts is an electrical load of 21.75 amps at 13.8 volts. This electrical load is seen by the engine as a physical, mechanical load. Hot water through a heater offers no measureable load at all, but of course, you need to warm up your engine to enjoy the benefits.

If a streeter,...
Then again, if it is really really cold, you should really run your engine at a fast idle for a few minutes just to take the chill from its bones, before you start driving. This is often enough to get "some" warmth from the heater. Drive it steady* untill it is at operating temp, & your day will be filled with joy.

[*You drive it steady when really cold to avoid lube problems in the gearbox & diff too.]

Whadda ya trying to do. At 980 watts the load is over 71 amps at 13.8 volts. That should make enough heat to just about bake bread.
