Is that including installation? That sounds like the price of a reconditioned box + installation by the Dealer.

I recommend selling it as a shell and buying another one
I'm sure you could get a good later model Commodore for about that.

Were you racing it, or treating it badly for it to break?

Especially if it was an Automatic, those things don't break unless they are faulty.
