Woodydat I suspect that you have never owned a Datsun 200B or you wouldn't write such absolute rubbish. I suspect that you have no idea of what you are talking about.
Scootation. Pay no attention to ill informed detractors. The SX version of the 200B had the same mechanicals as all the other 200B's, so acceleration, top speed & hill climbing ability would be the same as a standard model. Where they differed was in the suspension. This was uprated & the SX came with the 6" wide mags as standard. This meant that their point to point times over a given road was better, as the susoension allowed better use of the power that it has.
I have a poverty pack 200B wagon & it has served me well during the last four years. It has just taken me to Adelade & back [2,700k return] during the last week, hauling a load of Datsun 1000 & 1933 Dodge bits, while towing a trailer with a Datsun engine aboard. It was smooth, reliable, comfortable, & economical. Was it fast? It was fast enough to be able to get myself booked if i wasn't carefull, & thats fast enough for me.
If the 200B SX is in decent shape, with little or no rust, you will find it to be a good car, & a good basis for a project car. They are a whole lot roomier than my old 1200 ute, & that can mean a lot, particularly if you drive far like i do.
There are many things that can be done to improve these trusty friends. Mine uses factory electronic ignition from a Series 2 Bluebird & a TRX 5 speed from a series 1. The box was a straight out "bolt in", while the distributor need a minor wiring adjustment. They both work a treat. I also have the SX wheels & these allow a much better selection of tyres. Otherwise, everything is pretty much stock, but it is a good car. It will soon sport 4 wheel discs, using all factory parts. Thats what i like about Datsuns. INTERCHANGEABILITY.
