Started to fit my s/c today. Pulled the air cleaner off ,and the bastard was full of oil.
so I started the motor up again, and checked for blowby. Had none. So Im thinking maybe it was a bit overfull of oil.
I know that guys who run sidesuckers use a catch can for crankcase venting. Are these motors prone to spitting out oil if they are reved hard?(Ive been giving her death) Or do you think it may have been overfull.(I'll dip the crankcase tommorow)
Back to the fun.
I bolted up the intake runners and sat the s/c in the mounting cradle. Suddenly boo hoo. The manifold which had not been fitted up since I took the peices to a mate for tig welding no longer lined up! Plus with the head sitting higher that it had for the fit up due to the head saver shim, the flexable hose I'll be using to join the blower manifold to the intake runner, is perilously close to the extractor primary pipe from number one. So, now instead of putting it all together at last, I have to re design the blower manifold and intake runner to 1 and 2.
I guess this isn't a bad thing in the long run as it will reduce disparity between the total intake lengths from the blower to the head for the front two and rear two cylinders.
