Yeah, everything you said sounds about right. True a modified A14/15 will do 15 in a quarter, which is what many new cars can do stock. The thing is, even though some 13-15 second cars will end up winning by the end of the quarter, doesn't mean they win off the line. Because the 1200 has a rear wheel drive advantage over 70% of the cars out today, it is way easy to waste a faster car off the line, and even up to a good 50-60mph, which is sometimes all you need to win a streetlight race. For example, I raced a 93 RX-7 Turbo, which is an easy 14 second car, if not 13's. I stayed ahead of him up through 3rd gear because he didn't have time to get his turbo spooled up, and I took him big time off the line, he just stayed back peeling out and waiting for boost. I would like to get my 1200 to do 14 second quarter miles with the A15 (after I fuel inject, and turbo it). I talked to a guy who raced 1200's a long time ago, they were able to get a 1200 coupe with a naturally aspirated A15 into consistent low 13's, with a best of 12.9, I don't see why I couldn't get 14's using some modern techniques. Then I'll be able to get ahead and stay ahead at the strip or on the street. As far as American cars go, if you want fast, it's the best way to go, but not as unique. In less than a year I will be given my brother's 1990 Mustang GT to take care of while he's in Japan. This car can do 12's in the quarter, handles good, looks mean, and still gets 25 mpg. But it just doesn't hold the character of the 1200 and isn't as fun. The fun part will be wasting cars I could never dream of beating in the Datsun, and picking up chicks, as it has a bit more eye appeal to my generation. No word yet on those valvetrain parts I'm trying to order. -Andy
