Imagine a quite thick washer - say 8mm thick. If you cut 1/2 way through depth wise and then cut 180 degrees of width off you can then clamp the varying manifold thicknesses with that one washer. The nut will be on the untouched face and will tighten up normally. You can cut the washer in a vice with a hacksaw. Probably cost you $1 for washers.
