dattodevil Your appology is accepted, & i, in turn also extend my appology to you for having taken offense un-necessarily. You unhappily got me when i was just a bit "testy." I'm sorry.
I have spent all my life trying to learn ever more & more about my favorite subjects, & it goes deeply against my grain to see the progressive dumbing down of the world around me. People who can't spell even the simplest words, or add up 2+3, just because they don't want to, leave me cold.
People who express opinions that are just made up conveniences, & not based on any real level of knowledge of their subject, & who then expect me to respect that opinion, will be sadly dissapointed.
Well reasoned, & well researched opinions are always eagerly sought out by me, even if they ultimately prove to be wrong. Hell, i have got it wrong heaps of times, but the thinkers are worth their weight in blue mouldy cat sh## & i love 'em, even if a clash of personalities sometimes distracts from the subject[s].
As a serious automotive enthusiast i see this dumbing down at it's worst in this ute debate, & it quite obviously gets right up my nose. There must be at least a dozen categories of open back commercial vehicles out there, each with it's own name or description, & to see them all summed up as utes, because of ignorance or laziness just lights my fuse. This is a mistake that Hot Rodders dare not make as several categories of these commercials were available on the same chassis, at the same time. [Model A's were available as both ute's & pickups] No room for blunders here.
To dazzasute I appologise to you also for the level, or intensity, of my tirade, but the logic in your post proved to be a red rag to a bull, & the last line was the metaphoric cattle prod that set things in motion. I ask only that when you offer up an opinion on a subject, that you try to perhaps do just a little homework first. We all get it wrong from time to time, but i just couldn't let that one pass. Sorry.
