ralliarton18s, all US 1200s have two-barrel downdraft Hitachi 306. The "SUs" are British side-draft carburetors. Japanese-market "GX" 1200s have two Hitachi sidedrafts that look very much like SUs.

Yes, Triumph. I believe our infamous Triumph-driving critic was from the US. My sister had a Spitfire, that was a fun car.
