Are you talking about a gen-u-ine "Detroit Locker", or the much more common "limited slip" diferential? The limited slip diff is a good thing, but the locker is death on wheels for the unwary, & a pain for street use at any time.
Use a locker for drag racing & some off road applications, & the limited slip for other applications.
I trialed a locker over a six month period for possible use in my fleet back in the late 80's. We did not adopt them.
