Hey D-MAN you know the young blokes won't listen, thay know it all. Remember we are old and wise
Holeshot, i can't escape the "old" part, but i sometimes wonder if i delude myself with the wise part.
I ran a plain old ordinary spin resistant diff under the rear of my 1917 Dodge street rod back in the mid 70's. This thing was half a touring body with a three foot six inch [just over a metre] tray back. I would never have dared to call it a ute, it was a flatbed truck.
This thing was on a 92" wheelbase with about 240hp of small block Mopar, & in the wet, it was like driving on ice. If i pressed the "power pedal" just a little bit too hard, even at low speed, it would want to swap ends real quick. I frightened the crap out of myself a few times, & when a welded axle broke, i pulled it down & sold off the spool. I got billet axles too.
It was just too light in the rear, & once those tyres started to spin, all lateral control was gone & it would take off any
whichaway.
I first registered it in Sept of 1973 & it's still on the road, 31 years later.
