I wouldn't put much confidence in Consumer Affairs. I recently had my ute shipped up to Brisbane, had it organised with CARMOVERS more than a month before it needed to be there. On their schedule, according to their logistics it was picked up 4 days before the day i had organised flights and accommodation to meet with people about the car in BRISBANE.
You guessed it, CARMOVERS delivered it 3 DAYS TOO LATE. They refused to talk to me about the delay and refused any compensation. Consumer Affairs NSW was called, they promised results...
They couldn't do anything because the company is registered in QLD. The QLD authority said that they completed the service (ie. delivered the car) so they couldn't do anything. The only thing i can do is go to court.
$481 wasted, plus it cost me $550 to get the car delivered - way too late.
If i had a solicitor, he'd be on the phone. Solicitors seem to carry the "oomff" required to get these things in motion. My budget doesn't quite stretch that far though.
