I'm setting some struts up for my coupe at the moment. I've decided to dedicate it as a circuit racer, and want to go low.
How much suspension travel do you really need? I was thinking two inches of bump and an inch of rebound? I have some really short shocks to go in, and am trying to suss out where to put the spring seats. I've got about 4 inches of adjustment on the threaded part I'm putting on.
How do people get on lowering the back? I've heard people say their car is lowered 4 inches etc etc but can it really be done? I have mine lowered 2 inches and which the H165 under it, there's bugger all room for the housing to travel in bump before it hits the floor. I had to take the bump stops out or it wouldn't have had more than about 5 mm travel!! Maybe my springs have sagged a bit?
Also thinking of harder springs in the front, got 175lb/in now I think, was mainly set up for gravel, but for full circuit I've heard of people running everything from 200 to 400 lbs!!! That's quite a range! What do you racers here run/recommend?
And where's the best place in NZ to get 2 1/2 " springs? I know George Stocks has them, anyone else that may be a better bet? Cheers guys.
