I did the sums on a warmed over twin weber'ed A15 with a 5 speed in 1991.. Installing a CA18DE worked out about the same price, with a much better result. The total cost (including car) was about $3500.

The CA18DET Datto project ..well that's a different story.

I can break 4 CA18 gearboxes for the cost of one A-Series 5 speed.. Do the "long term costs" analysis.
