Hi Guys,

I've been making the most of the past 4 days..but things still are not close to being finished.

I spent most of the last 2 days working on wiring the engine bay wiring. Improving on the factory. Starting with the power wires from the battery to starter motor, and alternator wiring.

Because of the uprated 90W/100W halogen inserts, I needed to run some relays, fuses and bigger power wire. I've also put in a multiple fusible link positive battery terminal.

This allows me to run redundant power circuits for the headlights, split from side to side. When running relays and high power in the lighting department, having redundancy is critical. Headlight failure on a dark freeway will almost certainly hurt "a lot".

I'm also wiring in the thermo fans and little globes in the halogens (They look quite bright). The thermos will be controlled by the unused ignition outputs from the ECU. It'll use quite a few relays, I'm not going fully relay fed IGN and ACC circuits.

I also modified the custom gearbox crossmember, to allow for 3 inch exhaust and a catalytic converter. There is so little space for exhaust under a 1200 sedan, and doing it properly is not easy.

I'm using bits of Pintara CA20 engineside loom, to make use of nice relays, fuseboxes etc. But I am not just putting the loom in, merely using it for spare parts.

It's cool when you put 12v test power on a particular wire, and see the parking lights and blinkers work!

I haven't taped up the engine loom yet. That's a very final move. The hardest part is finding good firewall grommets for the wiring.. I've spent hours at pick and payless and come up empty handed.

I need to get up to Spectrum rubber after these hols, so I can see what they have on offer, so I can then complete my wiring, and interface the engine bay into the Autronic and 1200 looms.

Hopefully have something more to report next week. No photos this week.

Cheers,
Chris
