I also run at Mt Cotton and Morgan Park in my 1200 coupe, so I know we're talking about the same car now. I didn't realise he was running with a 200bhp engine all last year, and honestly the car does not perform up to that claim.

He told me last year he had over 150bhp at the wheels so I watched with interest, and some concern! I was getting kinda used to being the fastest Datto up here but the prospect of the same kind of power in a much lighter vehicle had me more than a little worried! And I really didn't like the prospect of being beaten by a smaller capacity car! But I came to the conclusion that he was getting mixed up with flywheel figures, based on his times and speed on the straight. 150bhp at the flywheel is a very healthy A15 - that's 100bhp per litre, which is pretty damn good out of a 2valve pushrod engine, but its a far cry from 200bhp.

Craig Allan's A14 1200 coupe is a bit faster than Robert's 1000 at Morgan park, and he has about 108bhp at the wheels. It's a well sorted and well driven little car, and he and his father have many years experience with the A series engine, with a speedway background. It has been (and remains) the benchmark for A series engines in this form of motorsport up here.

For the record, my coupe had a Stew Wilkins L18 with 146bhp at the wheels at the start of last year, and it was already 3 seasons old. That's around 190-200bhp at the flywheel by my estimates. It was 1995cc and was worth $4000 in parts alone, at cost price! So i was suspicious from the outset when I saw your ad, but was willing to go out and have another look at the car thinking it was a new engine fitted this year.

I don't mean any offence, but when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
