Mine had similar problems.
Check the level of fluid in the master cyl and look for any signs of leakage. Because of the way the clutch pedal is set up if you push the clutch in not streight it will cause the piston in the master cyl to wear the inside of the master causing leakage. Just pull it off and get it re sleaved if thats the problem.
Also when my slide bearing went (was in rainy weather in the shire also lol) the symptoms were similar as it wouldnt disengage and engage properly is there any rattleing feeling in the pedal?
