Mawler1 I'm with you.
I was running a 5-speed on my A12 till it blew up - ran out of oil, don't ask. I replaced with the 4-speed, rebuilt, but still get this noise, kinda of something under load about to go bang. Intermittent, but sounds exactly like the noise of the spiggot bearing getting shredded like what happened with the 5 speed. I keep telling these dud mechanics that they need to change the flywheel back to a 4-speed (it has a 1500 flywheel) but they disagree. What could this noise be? Something's up.
