1) the earlier rover V8s are to be avoided like the plague - you want the later post 1984 3.5L or 3.9L - these are the "stiff block" and have massive valley webbing. top stuff here.
2) toymods is NOT the place to go looking for info on the 1UZFE. go to
www.lextreme.com/forums/. this is a real worldwide community forum, with everyone being hardcore enthusiasts seriously wanting to help each other.
3) a buick V6 may be great in the grand national, but not in oz. they are both on par power-per-upgrade wise in the US, but the buick V6 weighs more than the 1UZ and requires serious top-end work to stay together at sustained high rpm.
the 1UZ however, needs nothing. 6 bolt (crossbolted) mains, forged crank, forged rods, individually measured and weighted pistons, 4valves per cylinder, scissor cam gears to eliminate backlash, twin elec dizzys, non-interference head (snap a timing belt and you WONT put a valve thru a piston) and the biggest facotry oiling system ever mass produced make this the most understressed engine in the world. add to that that these engines have pistons with ring lands the size of your little finger and you can see why they can take over 1bar of boost on the std internals with the factory 10.0:1 CR.
and in the US, these engines are "throwaway" because they're a jap engine and not "good ol' yankee muscle"

. the evidence points to which is superior

so please, don't post bullsh1t and rumours. it's okay to have an opinion - but don't feed the fire of ignorance.
