Its good they are working together giving support to motoring enthusiasts. But there are vehicle class requirements.
In NSW you still have to fit into the STREET ROD class.( There is no Hot Rod class)
NSW defines a Street Rod class as ANY pre 1949 vehicle
(see page 4) with 4 wheel hydraulic brakes that normally have a full chassis. You also need to be a member of a recognised club.
* You could fit a datsun to a pre 1949 chassis and get it registered but you would first need to find a registered club that would accept the vehicle as a street rod.
* You could also Register a Club with the RTA but you would have to also meet the requirements of a Registered Club.
I dont believe any of this will weed out the Rat Rod bandwagon hoppers.

How many rods are seen on the road with no engine covers or wheel guards?

The original idea in the begining of this thread talks of Drag and Circiut racing. Even an unregistered vehicle would have to meet the requirements of the Governing body for the chosen sport.
