Hi again everyone. for those of you that havent read my other cuople of posts i recently purchased NOPSI's old datsun 1200 with the hope of getting it running again and using it for entery level motorsport.

As i have only worked on FWD EFI cars before this is all a learning curve for me, although i have noticed already that datsun / nissan (if i dare say the N word on here ) are a lot more interchangeable than mazda!

I have started up this thread in the hope that if i get stuck i can grab some help, and by posting up what i plan to do all you datsun wizards can guide me in the right direction if i go off course!

Day 1 of the project i have spent doing my research and investigating exactly what i have and what needs doing. basically the bulk is there ... i just need to spend a few days getting everything working again.

here is a list of what i have worked out needs doing

1. gearbox - the current skyline box is too long. i will either have to have the dirve shaft modified to fit, and move the hand brake so i can use the gear stick, or find and install a 'stumpy' stanza box (which cross member will i use?)

2. Clutch Master Cylinder - i have been told i need one from a 180B. are these hard to install, any old threads about it?

3. Ignition - as far as i have been told and can see, it has been wired up for electronic igniton, but still has the points dizzy in the car. will need to buy an electronic dizzy

4. Handbrake - needs hooking up (thats a cheap one )

5. Carbies - linkages need linking, they will probably need a tune and stuff too. will take it to Ian Stewart i think.

6. alternator - needs bolting in, belt put back on

7. Trip meter - need to sort out that funky little trip computer sitting on the dash

8. Exhaust - the straight thru pipe stops at the rear axle!

9. Give the car the once over to make sure everything is all safe and bolted on! ( a lot isnt at the moment!)

10. RWC / Compliance for the new engine / box

I have to give a big hand to Harry. he has already provided me with a heap of information already and i am very thankful for that.

I will keep you posted on the details as things get done! is there anything anyone can see i am going ot run into problems with? any help?

Thanks again guys!
