most of that stuff in the box is probably for the air filter arrangement Nate. I might be able to explain how it goes. It sounds like Craig didn't touch it after it left my place!

here's a few answers from some of your above questions:

1. use the custom x-member that Craig should have given you with the car. I very much doubt he's mounted it to the body - by the sounds of it he hasn't touched it since I gave him the engine and box...And yes, get a Stanza box - that kills 2 birds with one stone; it will all fit and you get better ratios.

3. Craig's car ran a points ignition, so there shouldn't be any dramas there, just move everything to the other side of the engine & extend the wiring. The Bluebird electronic dissy has no measurable performance advantage over that SSS dissy apart from not having to change points every once in a while.

4. diff is from a 70's Corolla. It might pay to get the front half of the handbrake assembly out of one of them at the wreckers (with the splitter and front cables) and make that fit the 1200, rather than the dodgy setup Craig had.

5. Iain Stewart has already choked and jetted those carbs for that engine. Which is just as well cause he retires at the end of this month! Just hook up some linkages and balance them. Easy.

6. you'll need wiring changes for the internally regulated Bosch unit on the L series. Craig's old A series was externally reg'd. Try a search - it has been discussed here for alternator swaps for the A series - try searching on Falcon alternators...
