Why hook it up? All it does is clutter your engine bay, only reason its there was to keep the government peoples happy when the made the cars... Isnt it now-a-days that they dont really care about pre 1985 cars with out as much emision gear as they did previously?
The gear that would have been on the hitachi is the vacuum line (needed) anti-diesling solinoid, 2 breather pipes i think? and i think thats it... thats for the Aussie model tho, unless you'v got a USA motor which has crap all over it!!
