Hi guys Ade here, I have read all the replys to Darrens post. I will now tell my side of the story and include all the details including the ones that Darren chose not to include, even though the last email I recieved from him had the words buyer beware and f uck you (me). I had bought this gearbox (in pieces) from a mechanic customer of mine as part of a "job lot"of Datsuns,he stated to me that this box was a five speed that he was rebuilding. I sent it to a specialist repairer ( again a long standing customer of mine). The cost to put it back together was $350.00. At about the same time that I had sold a dogleg five speed that had not been rebuilt so when I recieved Darrens call I asked him what the shift pattern was (he could not tell me) I also asked him what colour it was (he could not tell me) I asked him the gearbox type (ie type 60) he could not tell me. The reason I wanted this info so I knew what gearbox we were talking about. It ended up that I had told him that it was the rebuilt type 60 box that had been silverfrosted from the repairer, I said to Darren why the hell after so long are you now calling me with a problem. He said it was only a four speed with a chipped reverse gear, I told him I will call the repairer and get him to check his job card on this box, this took longer than Darren was prepared to wait and sent me an email stating he wants $600 to $650 deposited in his account. I asked Darren to email me photos of the split box and also the gearbox number but low and behold the box had been re-assembled and was in his words "working quite nicely". Darren said to give his mechanic a call to substaniate what he had said, I know of no situation where this would be done I track down information to be possibly proved at fault. To date I have asked for five points to ID the box, Darren could neither supply the colour, gearbox type, shift pattern, photos(except for an underside fitted photo)not split and proving what he has said and no gearbox number to boot.It is not hard to use two screw drivers to check the gear setup And I pose this question to everyone if you sold an item and the buyer phoned you nearly 12 months later what would you do?? And Darren you stated quite clearly that whatever my mechanic had to say made no difference to him and I take the same tack I have been an active member and have alsways been willing to help out in any situation that I can and if any member has a problem with me please post it now and any one that I have happily given parts to help with there Datto"s let everyone know. Also in my email to you I said that if you"d had a problem and if you had of called me in reasonable amount of time I would have refunded your money on the return of the gearbox that was sent(you forgot to mention that in your post) I also in last few weeks posted a thread not mentioning any names or details on buying second hand goods and 100% support my argument. And in finishing Darren I would love to tell you to get f ucked (like you did to me) but I will not lower my standards. Ade
