Have you taken the head off? If you have there is a bolt with a thin shank that has to go in a certain hole you could have that in the wrong place.

Is it making noise like the the tappets are all loose? Thats a indacation that there is no oil in the topend. You will no the noise cos it will sound like someone has thrown a bunch of nuts & bolts in the rocker cover. If its quiet there might not be anything to worrie about . Go to an auto parts store & get a capilary oil pressure gauge & check the oil pressure. It will cost you about 30bucks
