Yep just like that. Its not too hard. You will find it the right point is where it idles smoothly.
I wouldnt worry about keeping the revs up. If a fresh engine has too low an oil pressure at idle speed - than something wrong.
As for coolant - it can only circulate when the thermostat is open.
If the engine gets hot at idle - the radiator isnt exactly good enough to keep it cool anywhere above idle.
