Todays Supersprint meet at Wakefield Park seems to have been one of those days that just went right.
There were two Sports sedans that looked the goods, the first of which was a 1200 Coupe that used a mid mounted V6 from some other manufacturer, but it went well anyway. I thought that a grille would help to complete the picture.

The second was a 1968 Datsun 1000 two door with mid mounted A15. It sounded great but its times didn't reflect it. It ran 1 minute, 11.6 seconds, which I thought was good, but not great for that class of car.

Next we had young Curlewis. The first three runs were plagued by a mysterious missfire that occurred after reving it right out in third, & shifting into fourth. He overcame this problem after disconecting the malfunctioning rev limiter.
He was able to improve his time from 1-23.7 down to 1-20.4. You could hear this car during it's whole trip around the track as he wrung it's neck for all it was worth & it ran clean & crisp for the rest of the afternoon. Those tyres are old & hard, but he gave quite a few in his group a run for their money & showed them what an old pushrod Datsun could do, much to their dismay.
With all the practice that he got, his driving style improved noticeably too. This is one young man to be encouraged.
When it comes to the Boss, well he had a good day too. After improving his previous best time of 1-13.35 down to 1-12.00 he was bumped up to the next fastest class & now he had someone to chase. This resulted in a new time of 1-11.61, the same as the little 1000 sports sedan with the same engine.

Congratulations must go to the organisers as they had the whole day down pat. There was an almost unheard of four runs each for all five classes by lunchtime & we lost count during the afternoon but I think the Boss got in another five during the afternoon & passed up on one more, & we all went home well before dark. An absolutely surperlative effort from the officials & a great day for everyone.
