That's amazing that they got that many runs in! How much was the day?

I don't know how much the day was for drivers, because I don't race, but since it isn't an advertised 'open to the public' kind of day, there is no-one at the gate to collect spectator fees. Just drive on in & mingle with the racers.

It was a great day with great organisation. Even the officials were rotated so that they all got lunch without a break in the competition. If you were competing & wanted lunch, then bite big & chew fast while waiting in the line.
For me, the total cost was ... fuel money, plus lunch from the 'restaurant'. That left me with change from $20. Best value in town.

Jeff, sorry to hear that you needed to do more work on your engine. It just sounded so well on the start line last week.
Yesterday [Sunday] was just one of those days. It had rained fairly heavily on the Friday, & that gave the track a good wash & removed all the fine sand & dust. The day was generally sunny with plenty of clouds that seemed to steer their way around the sun & left us mostly in sunshine. The air was nice & cold, but the breeze was gentle, so we didn't freeze, but the engines really appreciated the cold air.
Because the track was clean, tyres got a better grip & times fell, causing tyres to work harder, & heat up more, giving even better grip etc. etc.
This is what happened with Aidan in the 1200 sedan. He was racing on his own, so he got to drive the whole day instead of sharing. Once the missfire problem was solved, he became a young man on a mission & gave it all it had. This heated up the tyres nicely & when he came in after his best run of the day, they were nowhere as cold or as hard as before. It was a performance that brought a tear to a crusty ol' bugger's eye. You would have been cheering him on too.

As for the Boss, well he said it himself, he needed someone to chase, to really get that competitive adreneline rush, & when he was pushed up into the faster group, he was no longer the bigger fish in the smallish pond, so he focused on the blue 1200 Sports sedan. With it's mid mounted 3.8L V6, it outran him of course, but it had the right effect of helping to drag the last ounce of performance from the little A15 & its driver.
Amazing.
